How to Reframe Negative Thoughts for Growth

Negative thoughts are a natural part of the entrepreneurial journey.

It's not the thoughts that can set you back, but your response to them.

Knowing you have them and choosing to respond in fear or positive conviction can be the defining factor in a moment.

Negative thoughts can show up when we're afraid, feeling like an imposter, or overwhelmed. While these are normal, if left unchecked, this can lead to inaction, anxiety or even giving up on your goals.

Reframing empowers you to face challenges head-on.

It shifts your perspective into something constructive vs. destructive.

Here's a simple 3-part reframe strategy: Recognize, Challenge and Reframe.

Recognize:

Recognize when you're having a negative thought. Pay attention to your inner dialogue.

Challenge:

Ask yourself if this thought is based on facts or fear? Is this thought my own or has it been influenced by someone else? What would I say to a child if they had this thought about themselves?

Reframe:

Use positive, growth-focused language that reflects your strengths and opportunities.

Reframing takes constant practice. It doesn't mean you'll never face challenges, but it'll allow you to approach them with a mindset that allows you to move forward. The next time you catch yourself thinking negatively, take a moment to pause, challenge the thought, and reframe it.

What’s one negative thought you’ve successfully reframed recently?
