How to Turn Distractions Into Clarity
We often think distractions as enemies to productivity. But they are often signals that there are underlying issues. They reveal the areas that need your energy, focus or priority. Learning how to decode and address the causes of distraction can help you transform them into tools for growth.
Here are 3 ways to turn your distractions into clarity:
Identify what your distractions are trying to tell you. Ask yourself, what are you avoiding the task? What's drawing your attention away?
Reassess your priorities. When your priorities aren't clear or compelling, distractions will often dominate the scene. Every day, get clear on your top priorities for the day. Write them down, anchor yourself in your purpose, and revisit them often.
Redesign your environment for clarity. Wherever you do your work, keep it distraction free. This will allow you to engage deeply in your work and reduce mental clutter.
What have your distractions been teaching you?
