Why Self-Doubt is a Sign You’re Growing

What if self-doubt is actually a sign that you're growing?

For many entrepreneurs, it feels like an obstacle to overcome, instead of a stepping stone out of your comfort zone.

When we are learning new skills, taking on challenges or chasing our goals—we see any discomfort as proof that we're not worthy.

We internalize risk, seeing ourselves at the barrier.

But, self-doubt is our natural response to uncertainty—and we know there's a lot of uncertainty when you're running a business.

If you didn't care about the outcome, you wouldn't question yourself.

The questioning is a sign that you're invested in doing your best.

Here are 3 ways you can use self-doubt as a growth tool:

  1. Recognize and accept the feeling. Remind yourself that self-doubt doesn't mean you're unprepared—just evolving.

  2. Shift your perspective. View it as an indicator of growth. Reframe your thoughts into growth-focused statements. Example: Instead of “I’m not good enough to handle this,” say, “I’m learning and improving with every step.”

  3. Create a wins journal. Document successes and moments when you overcame your self-doubts. Revisit your journal to remind yourself of your resilience.

Today's Action:

The next time you feel self-doubt, use it as a sign that you’re on the right path. What’s one step you’ve taken recently that felt uncomfortable but pushed you to grow?
